By Cari, on May 26th, 2007% *blink* *blink* what country am I in again? It’s been a fun ~48 hours, but it’s also been a whirlwind.
8 AM flight from EWR to LHR on Thursday was uneventful and I cleared immigration in good time due to there being very few non-EU/UK passport holders on the flight so our line zipped ahead. Because my backpack was checked through to Prague, I had nothing to collect or declare. A quick call to Gemma and I was on my way to meet her at Leicester Square. V. impressed at the easy tube connection at Heathrow.
Friday morning I was . . . → Keep Going: EWR->LHR->PRG
By Cari, on May 23rd, 2007% well not quite, but I do leave for Newark in ~6 hours.
I’m mostly packed except for a few crucial things, like the laptop. It’s going to be weird putting the backpack back on nearly one year after I returned.
Skype is set up. My screen name is travellingcari [shocker, shocker]. I have SkypeIn set up, but I don’t feel comfortable posting the number here. Feel free to e-mail me for it.
I’ve got a few books to read on the plane, but I’m planning to sleep. I apparently realized the logic of packing only two carry on books four . . . → Keep Going: and she’s off….

I’d upload the PowerPoint but I don’t even have a copy of our final segments. The one for . . . → Keep Going: One hell of a week…
By Cari, on April 21st, 2007% Thursday 24 May: Newark to London:Heathrow Friday 25 May: Heathrow to Prague Saturday 23 June: Prague to Switzerland. Train/plane plans not completely set but I think I’m going via train for the scenery. Monday 25 June: Geneva to New York
The interim month is, of course, summer study abroad. Four weeks, two classes. We’ll be travelling during the classes as well, both around the Czech Republic and for Sports Tourism the professor is talking about a weekend trip to either Turino or one of the World Cup sites. Still planning to also try and visit Poland, which I didn’t get . . . → Keep Going: Jetrosexual?

People are looking, perhaps, for escapism, or affinity, or any number of other motivators, and it’s a matter of providing assurance to the potential customer that Canada can deliver experiences matching their desires
I think this attitude is crucial to successful tourism product development and/or destination marketing. A tourist doesn’t go to <insert destination here> because of that place’s name, they go because they associate that destination with a certain experience.
This is especially at the forefront of the realization that a destination cannot be everything to everyone. Not everyone wants to go to . . . → Keep Going: Tourism Experiences
