Rediscovering FlyerTalk was a very bad thing. But it’s not even FT’s fault, it’s the obsessor in me. I find a new site and have to learn all about it, and learn from it. And then I remember all the miles I’ve lost.

Not just the 13K AA miles I let expire, but the ones I never got credit for:

-RT from Osaka to NY last February. Tried to get them credited to my Singapore Airlines Kris FLyer account since they’re an Air Canada partner, but the type of ticket I had wasn’t eligible for miles.

-Los Angeles to Fiji and on to Sydney: Qantas miles would have been AA

…

I’ve had a ton of NWA miles that I’ve actually used: RT to Calgary for Jamie’s wedding – holiday weekend flight cost only $40 US, RT to Los Angeles this summer for $10. I’m not too savvy on the cost per mile redeemed but I know that in both cases using the miles was better than paying more airfare. I’m not flying NWA as much any more so I’m glad both flights this summer will get me AA miles. I’ve got my Starwood AMEX that has about 25K points that can be converted to miles so I’m not hurting for miles I just can’t help but think of how many more I could have.
