eating out, weekends and sick, oh my

As I mentioned, eating out is a stressor for me. Has been since 2010 and honestly, probably always will be. I didn’t bail on lunch Friday because I needed to get out. I used a strategy that a couple of friends mentioned and I’ve used in the past – pre plan. Well, sort of. I was all set that I wanted salmon which a) I love b) I can’t cook. But when we got the menu the only salmon they had on it was char-grill Salmon, organic beets, potatoes, saffron yogurt. The salmon is fine – the other three, not . . . → Keep Going: eating out, weekends and sick, oh my

Fat Girl Day // Back on Track (Redux)

So it turns out I wasn’t as back on track as I thought I was. Last night was Celebrate Naz, which I love. Being 350 miles from my undergrad, I don’t have many opportunities to connect with Naz. The NYC alumni chapter is extremely inactive, but I found out about this event last week and the location was perfect. I couldn’t not go. I was by far the youngest with the next youngest graduation class six years before I was born What I was fascinated by was a woman from the class of 1943. 1943. well I *tried* not to spend money on food

I really did.

In my rushing around to sort out the fridge/freezer situation this morning I forgot my lunch. Technically I could have made a second portion of my breakfast as lunch, but then I’d have to buy breakfast tomorrow. I also could have done with some of what I had – a little peanut butter on a bagel thin – but that’s not lunch. Odd because what I had planned for lunch, lox on a pita pocket, isn’t lunch either. Go figure on taste buds.

So a colleague and I went out for salad. Nope, not the cheapest option . . . → Keep Going: well I *tried* not to spend money on food

food spending on Weight Watchers

one of the topics that comes up the most when I mention I’ve been doing weight watchers is the cost of food. I think many people have seen the Weight Watchers products in the store and think you’re required to buy them like with Jenny Craig and Nutrisystem. There’s no doubt some of the WW products are expensive, but you definitely don’t need to buy them. There are some products that I do like – mainly those sold at Centers (smoothies, mint crisp bars) – for which I’ve never found a comparable alternative but I don’t buy those that often.

back on track

had a not quite totally but still somewhat unexpected off track day yesterday. We went to Asia de Cuba for a friend’s birthday and not only did I not look at the menu beforehand, I also didn’t know it was family style. Double whammy. And I was drinking.

I was good before hand with lunch at Toasties (no, it wasn’t a cheap day whatsoever) and had a huge salad that was only 5 points so I theoretically had 17 points for dinner. Well I don’t think that or the 35 WPs covered such delicacies of: noodle box, short ribs, lobster . . . → Keep Going: back on track

I think I found my sodium culprit

1,830 mg in a Subway foot long turkey sandwich?!?!? Holy shit.

In addition to the giant pretzel I had at the Yankee game on Sunday I had Subway for dinner Sunday and linner/dunch on Monday. No wonder I was retaining water. I won’t give up the sandwiches because I like them too much, but clearly not for Sunday, Monday any more.

Either that or I move my WI day because they’re a weekend staple for me.
