DietBet: WI 2

WIs for Diet Bet 2 and 3

also known as “I don’t see it in the mirror daily but I definitely see it in the photo.”

This also has to be the first time where the first place the weight (or lack thereof) has shown in my face before anywhere else.

I haven’t officially won Round 2 since weigh out isn’t tomorrow but barring diving into a massive salt vat, I will. WOW. I’m not sure what it was about DietBet that gave me the kick in the ass I needed, but I’m definitely doing Round 3., which starts . . . → Keep Going: DietBet: WI 2

Believe It, Be It

dressed like a girl

I know there’s a fair bit of anti-Biggest Loser sentiment on Weight Watchers. I agree and disagree with it. I agree in that BL does make some think/expect that big losses are the norm, but I disagree in that if it teaches people to eat well and responsibly, that’s a good thing. I only started watching this season, but I really got a lot out of it. It opened my eyes, but I know better than to think I’m going to lose double digits in one week. I didn’t even do that in week 1.

What a difference a year makes

Child of the 80s

This HIDEOUS photo on the shores of the Galilee or the main photo on my blog are almost exactly a year ago during the trip to Israel and Jordan. No idea what my weight was then. This was March 2010 at ~ 209 when I joined WW.

This photo is today. With Saturday’s WI I’m officially 20% down from my start weight and 42.2 lbs down from when I started. Shirt is a present to myself. 80s child all around. I’m so happy with my progress. I don’t see the difference looking at myself day . . . → Keep Going: What a difference a year makes

can I do 19 again?

Guld of Mexico 1999

Doubt it, but it would be nice. The better question is of course why I thought I was “fat” then. No idea what I weighed, but I love how I looked.

At the moment this is the “goal” I’m working towards.

well that’s Cari festive

festive?

as a follow up to the threads on the the 30s and 50 lbs to lose posts, I had to dress “festive” for a gala event tonight. Whoever invented “Festive” needs to be hung by their eyelashes and stoned. Business, cocktail or black tie please. This is “Cari festive” with some help from my boss with the scarf. I took my hair down for the dinner but otherwise, is as pictured.

I’m not a scarf person but this worked well. Also liked that it helped hide the belly somewhat. Way overthought this – what else is new. People . . . → Keep Going: well that’s Cari festive

a good day *and* a photo I don’t hate?

with Eli Manning 5/2/2010

I’m still bouncing over meeting Eli Manning this morning. Gatorade/GNC had an event for National Signing Day here in NYC and I went and lined up. Wasn’t as crazy as some who camped out over night but I stood for three hours in the sun. Can I get some add’l APs for that? I didn’t even track the walking to and from the subway because I wasn’t wearing my HRM and basically count that as part of what I did pre WW anyway.

I look at some photos and want to cringe. I can’t even . . . → Keep Going: a good day *and* a photo I don’t hate?

About Me

Mom & I Petra: July 2009

because what’s a blog without an about the blogger?

My name is Cari, if that isn’t obvious. I’m a traveler at heart. My first overseas trip was when I was in high school and we went to Spain. I loved it and was hooked. In my senior year of college I went to the UK to visit a long term penpal and then after graduation I moved to Japan to teach English.

In that next decade: Korea, Singapore, Australia (lived there later), the Czech Republic (several times), Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan again, . . . → Keep Going: About Me

209

March 11, 2010: Ft Lauderdale

209 was the number that got me on the road to Weight Watchers. Oddly, I know now that was water. It came only four days after I’d gotten on the scale for the first time in months to realize I weighed “only” 204. I’d expected a worse number after four-five months of eating horribly as well as the holidays. Sunday March 7 I just felt awful. I drank almost a 2 liter bottle of soda and I was retaining water. My back was hurting when I did the subway stairs. The 209 on the . . . → Keep Going: 209
