Before and During
I think I’ve been mentally writing this blog post since yesterday’s WI, or even from Thursday when I sensed that I just might hit 50 lbs down this week. I still cannot believe I did it. 50 lbs lost in a hair less than six months. For some time, one of my mini-goals had been to lose 50 lbs before my trip to Indy for Manning Bowl later this month. Since I made my previous mini-goal of being considered not obese in July, it was my “next” goal. With my gain over vacation it was in . . . → Keep Going: It’s not before and after, it’s before and during
I’ve been focusing a lot on scale victories because they’re something quantifiable. Measaurable. Speaking of which, I’m due to do my measurements. In the interim though, I’ve noticed a lot of other changes. NSVs. Non Scale Victories.
* In addition to my collarbones, I also have knee caps and hip bones. The latter surprised me the most when I laid down on the floor one night. Ow, that’s not so comfortable any more. Guess it’s good that I have a futon now. In college I always used to study laying on the floor. * Face shape. Is that a . . . → Keep Going: NSVs
I’m not calling it a 6lb loss, but I’ll certainly take the numbers. Brings me to 48.2 overall.
Part of the reason last week’s gain was as bad as it was was that I knew the week was a lost one from half ass tracking and poor food choices, so what did I do on WI eve? Chicken burger with avocado, fries and a ton of salt and then dessert when I got home. Not the best decision and I didn’t track it, but I moved on.
The previous week had been up .2 so it was really nice to . . . → Keep Going: -6? Um, wow
Weight Watchers is working for me. If you’d asked me in March whether I thought I could weigh 164 pounds in August, I’d ask you what you were smoking and whether I could have some. I was more than 200 pounds and didn’t really have any interest in losing the weight, until something clicked.
My aha moment, as I’ve mentioned before, was getting on the scale finding out I weighed 5 lbs more than I had a few days before. My fingers were swollen as were my ankles and my back hurt when I walked the few . . . → Keep Going: the numbers don’t lie
Child of the 80s
This HIDEOUS photo on the shores of the Galilee or the main photo on my blog are almost exactly a year ago during the trip to Israel and Jordan. No idea what my weight was then. This was March 2010 at ~ 209 when I joined WW.
This photo is today. With Saturday’s WI I’m officially 20% down from my start weight and 42.2 lbs down from when I started. Shirt is a present to myself. 80s child all around. I’m so happy with my progress. I don’t see the difference looking at myself day . . . → Keep Going: What a difference a year makes
That may be a first for me, at least since high school when I was playing soccer. Even that in my position as a striker or right full back wasn’t usually 60m straight. Wish I had the fitness and body now that I did then and thought was “fat”.
But very proud of what I did. I also had gym time Thursday-not sure how long but don’t think it was that long. From my recollection: 10m elliptical, 10m rowing and then bike time. I know it was 5.5 APs
Saturday: 25m elliptical, 35 recumbent bike – 7 APs Sunday: . . . → Keep Going: 60m cardio, 3 days in a row for me
I was not at all confident about this week’s weigh in as I’m sick and wasn’t sure a) the weight of the crud in my head and b) any impact of antibiotics. Plus, my throat hurt and I wasn’t great about drinking yesterday. Got on the scale this morning and was pleasantly surprised. Down 2 lbs (or 1.6 lbs of new weight after last week’s gain) for a total of 30 lbs lost. I’m at 179 and out of the 180s for the first time since… Maybe early 2007?
I came home from Japan in June 2006 weighing 167, the . . . → Keep Going: Farewell, fair point
my five-week weigh in is Tuesday morning. I can’t believe the progress I’ve made in nearly five weeks. Last Tues. AM I weighed in at 192.5. Down 16.5 pounds! Granted almost eight of that was the first week, but it’s still 16.5
I’ve earned two 5 lb stars as well as my 5%. Well “earned” isn’t quite right, I’m doing WW online so the stars are more icons, but I’ve earned them. I’ve worked HARD. When I was on vacation in Florida I hit the gym at the hotel and realized I missed it. I was enjoying the Biggest Loser . . . → Keep Going: almost five weeks in
