It’s all about the percentages

When I first joined Weight Watchers I was curious how they set mini goals as percentages. I shouldn’t say I like absolutes as I still haven’t set a goal, but I really don’t like %s. They don’t mean as much to me when I have to do the math. I guess I prefer to think in decades. Still, I decided tonight to think about the percentages. I had no idea how close I was to 25% until I did the . . . → Keep Going: It’s all about the percentages

food spending on Weight Watchers

one of the topics that comes up the most when I mention I’ve been doing weight watchers is the cost of food. I think many people have seen the Weight Watchers products in the store and think you’re required to buy them like with Jenny Craig and Nutrisystem. There’s no doubt some of the WW products are expensive, but you definitely don’t need to buy them. There are some products that I do like – mainly those sold at Centers (smoothies, mint crisp bars) – for which I’ve never found a comparable alternative but I don’t buy those that often.

Before and During

I think I’ve been mentally writing this blog post since yesterday’s WI, or even from Thursday when I sensed that I just might hit 50 lbs down this week. I still cannot believe I did it. 50 lbs lost in a hair less than six months. For some time, one of my mini-goals had been to lose 50 lbs before my trip to Indy for Manning Bowl later this month. Since I made my previous mini-goal of being considered not obese in July, it was my “next” goal. With my gain over vacation it was in . . . → Keep Going: It’s not before and after, it’s before and during

I’m back

well, moving back. I’ve been blogging on the weight watchers site since April of this year but since my domain keeps nagging me to update the wordpress scripts, I decided to move back here.

Maybe.

I’m reading Angry Fat Girls

and that’s part of what wanted to get me back to blogging. I’ve said for a while I don’t like the WW interface or limited tags, so I decided to come back to wordpress. I thought for a bit on doing it anonymously but I realized my WLJ has never really been anonymous due to the username . . . → Keep Going: I’m back

the numbers don’t lie

the numbers

Weight Watchers is working for me. If you’d asked me in March whether I thought I could weigh 164 pounds in August, I’d ask you what you were smoking and whether I could have some. I was more than 200 pounds and didn’t really have any interest in losing the weight, until something clicked.

My aha moment, as I’ve mentioned before, was getting on the scale finding out I weighed 5 lbs more than I had a few days before. My fingers were swollen as were my ankles and my back hurt when I walked the few . . . → Keep Going: the numbers don’t lie

I don’t understand the scale

I CANNOT believe I’ve lost 25 lbs on WW. I lost a chunk of weight my freshman year in college but I don’t remember what the number was. Know I’m not down as low as I was then because I was wearing a size 10. More on that weight loss in another post.

and this time in a good way. I had no business losing 3.2 this week. It’s TOM, among other things. If nothing else, it proves that my chart (updated below) shows that whether or not I eat my weeklies has no bearing on my weight loss. I’m . . . → Keep Going: I don’t understand the scale

3.9, 20+, 10%

original post WOW what a week!

As of this morning I’m down 3.9 lbs, which brings my overall total to 21.9 lbs in 7 weeks. I hit my 10% almost exactly a month after I got my 5%. I’m not yet sure what my next mini goal is.

The chart is updated below, but I really don’t think this was because I ate all my weeklies and dipped into my APs. I think it’s more a case of a) more activity this week and b) sodium awareness thanks to Tiggertiffin87, kaskinger and sydney 321 in this post.

TGIF

Monday was a long week so this week felt like a month. So glad it’s Friday. Going to be a very busy weekend: Massachusetts tomorrow for lunch with my brother’s fiancee’s grandmas and back to NY tomorrow night. Sunday is a Yankees game with my college roommate and her husband and Monday spending the day with them. Recipe for a challenge in staying OP, but I hope that not to be the case especially since I haven’t got to the gym much this week.

Two additional NSV’s today pushing me in the right direction.

NSV

so I’ve lived in my apartment since Oct and don’t know most of my neighbors. Today I’m letting myself into my apt at the same time as one of the men who lives across the hall. I know he and his partner as the door slammers because every time they close their kitchen cabinets, mine open. He’d seen me before but didn’t know I was across the hall and I’d only met his partner. He told me he’d seen me on the block and that I looked like I’d lost weight. Had I been going to the gym? When we . . . → Keep Going: NSV
